Organizational Description
Assumption University started its education quality through its academic standard guidelines in 1994. To strengthen its education quality, the University established the Center for Excellence (CFE) in 2000 as a facilitating unit to liaise with all QA Committees to ensure that the University’s quality assurance missions were well deployed and accomplished. In 2016, the University incorporated the policy and planning functions into CFE and reestablished the CFE to be the Office of Policy, Planning and Quality Assurance (OPPQA) under direct supervision by the Rector. Hence, OPPQA takes main roles and responsibilities to support the academic and administrative units of Assumption University in the areas of a) policy and planning and b) quality assurance, which an ultimate aim is to promote AU to achieve a Quality International Catholic University and become the leading Quality International Catholic University in Asia.
In terms of competitive environment of AU in an education quality, AU was awarded in 2007 as one of the eight universities whose quality assurance system met the standard of higher education. In 2018, Assumption University was chosen as the most outstanding, best managed and ideal educational institution displaying excellence in providing best educational systems and thus contributing to the development of students, society and the country. This prestigious award presentation took place at the EduLife Expo 2018 “Life Learning Center”, co-organized by the Ministry of Education and the Eco-Safe Company Ltd. In addition, the University earned the Environmental Energy Saving Award 2010 and won the “Trusted Brand Gold Award 2011 and 2013 as a reputable and most trusted private university. In 2022, the University was fully five-year accredited (fourth round) by the Office of National Education Standards and Quality Assessment (ONESQA). At present, the OPPQA puts great efforts to support and liaise with a strategic planning committee and all QA committees to promote the Educational Criteria for Performance Excellence (EdPEx) and ASEAN University Network Quality Assurance (AUN-QA).
